Interview with FHM
You starred on a popular Australian soap opera. What was the most ridiculous storyline you had to deal with?
The scriptwriters had very active imaginations. Once, I had to track down this box of guns that was buried somewhere. Filming it was just bizarre—digging up this enormous box of guns and handling all these rifles. Supposedly, my character’s adoptive parents were Y2K survivalists. It was way out there.

Television over there can get pretty racy. Ever do any nude scenes?
Not yet, but it would really depend on how I felt about the script. If nudity was required for the story to make sense, then I’d consider it. I wouldn’t get naked if it was a gimmick to get people to watch—that’s not what it’s about for me.

Do you always look this great?
No! I’ve been living in Namibia for the last two months with an Australian non-profit organization. We’ve been building a big trough for the elephants. Since water is so scarce, the elephants have been known to kill people and knock down their houses to get to their water supplies. It’s a lot of hard, messy, physical work and at the end of the day we’re all caked in dirt and we can’t shower for days. But you learn to embrace it.

You’ve lived all over the world. What was your childhood like?
We moved around a lot when I was growing up. I lived in Melbourne, then Switzerland, then in Kakadu National Park in Jabiru and Cairns. We had horses, so I spent a lot of time in the country, especially in Kakadu as a little Earth child.

So you were a hippy?
Well, yeah, with the Aboriginal kids. It was a pretty special, life-shaping time for me.

Would you date a smelly Phish fan today?
I guess I’d have to know them. It’s the typical attraction chemistry question, and instinctively, I don’t think that’s the first thing I’m drawn to. We all know physical appearance plays a part in how attracted you are to someone.

What’s your biggest turn off in a guy?
Arrogance and disrespect for people and the environment.

What do you find attractive?
I like it when someone reveals themself to me. People who are really honest and real—who can just be themselves. Humility, spontaneity and compassion are beautiful qualities.
